Grace Barbé is a multi-award-winning musician, originally from the Seychelles, who has established a successful international career. Her Grace Barbé Afro-Kreol band has released three albums, won 13 WA Music Industry Awards and received an ARIA Award nomination. She joined The Cat Empire as bassist in 2022 and has been touring internationally ever since. Returning briefly to Perth in November, Grace will perform a special acoustique show with long-time musical collaborator Jamie Searle, returning from Tanzania, singing in Creole, English, French and Malagasy.
Viper’s Dream is a brand-new gypsy jazz trio on the Perth music scene, led by clarinettist Mayuka Juber, with guitarists Aaron Deacon and Oscar Davies. They perform the classic jazz manouche repertoire of vibrant 1930s Parisian nightlife with outstanding musicianship and flair.

“It’s absolutely wonderful to receive national recognition for the community cultural work that World Music Café delivers,” said WMC producer Jon Cope.
“Our shows create genuine connection and cultural exchange among musicians, audiences, caterers and crew, reflecting the rich diversity of contemporary Australian culture.”
Described by the UWA Centre for Social Impact as ‘An Oasis of Integration in Our Country’, World Music Café is a successful social enterprise established in 2019 that provides genuine economic and social inclusion for crew members from new migrant and refugee backgrounds.
