The second World Music Café documentary features artists of Southern Asian heritage, including Praashekh Borkar and Avra Banerjee from India and Rajeev Fernando and the de Silva family band from Sri Lanka, plus First Nations artist Olman Walley, and interviews with the World Music Café team.
In this show, we meet some musicians with strong cultural links to southern Africa and the Indian Ocean nations, plus we meet the team behind the World Music Café.
World Music Café Livestream Launch links to Cape Town and Pretoria in South Africa and includes a Welcome to Country and performance by First Nations Australian, Olman Walley, plus speeches from the Australian High Commissioner to South Africa, Gita Kamath, DFAT WA Director, Sally Dawkins, WMC Facilitator and Documentary Producer Jon Cope, WMC correspondent in Cape Town, Erika Von Kaschke.
The 30-minute film reflects contemporary Australia through the lens of the World Music Café events with many diverse cultural diasporas celebrating creativity and connection with food, music and stories.
